Scorching second edition of The Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic opens the British summer sporting season
The Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic 2025 was hailed as 'a highlight of the sporting calendar' by former cricketer Sir Andrew Strauss as he watched his former England team-mate Michael Vaughan lift the Pro-Celebrity title alongside top-ranked player Rafa Vega
The stars enraptured a large crowd at The Hurlingham Club, Vaughan and Vega eventually beating former Liverpool footballer Thiago Alcántara and padel pro Frankie Langan in a pulsating final.
Sir Andrew Strauss, the Executive Chair of TTB Sport, founders of The Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic, said: "Last year set a high standard, but this year’s event took it to another level, in both competition and camaraderie, and it was great to see Michael turning back the clock and excelling at his new passion. The padel had us on the edges of our seats and set against the iconic backdrop of The Hurlingham Club, the tournament is now a celebrated event in the world of padel, attracting top-tier players, high-profile guests and VIPs.
"The 2025 event was a huge success and we’d like to thank The Hurlingham Club, Dunhill and Laureus Sport for Good as well as our key partners - Evelyn Partners, Pragnell, Jack Barclay Bentley, Volare Aviation and IWC Schaffhausen for their support to bring this true celebration of padel to life, as well as our team at TTB Sport for making it happen.
"To witness the evolution of the Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic from its successful debut last year to this year’s spectacular showcase has been nothing short of inspiring. It’s now firmly on the map as a highlight of the sporting calendar, cutting the ribbon on the start of the British summer sporting season."

The Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic featured the UK's first floating padel court, and Strauss added: "Only at the Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic might you find something as unique as this, the UK’s first floating padel court, set against the stunning grounds of The Hurlingham Club. The addition has further strengthened the event as a celebration of sport, style and imagination."
A significant number of celebrities from the sporting world and beyond graced the courts of The Hurlingham Club. In addition to Strauss, Vaughan and Alcántara, we saw Judy Murray and Michael McIntyre alongside Jessica Ennis-Hill, Bryan Habana, Sam Billings, Annabelle Bond, Max Evans, Mark Wright, Helen Richardson-Walsh, Al Hargreaves, Steve Finn, Peter Crouch, Jamie Redknapp and George Gregan.
The Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic was proud to welcome some of the UK’s top professionals to The Hurlingham Club. Aimee Gibson, the first Briton to make the world’s top 100, led the field and was joined by British stars Louie Harris, Frankie Langan, Sam Macneil, Alfonso Patacho and Abi Tordoff. Spain’s Rafa Vega completed the field.
However, the highlight of the event was the presence of Miguel Lamperti, one of the world’s most celebrated padel players, and a former world champion. Widely regarded as the most charismatic player on the World Padel Tour, Lamperti wowed the crowds, displaying a level of padel not previously seen in the UK.
As well as playing an exhibition match each day, Lamperti also spent time coaching and playing practice sets with two of the UK's biggest rising stars, Chloe De La Mare and Rosie Quirk. At just 15 years old, De La Mare and Quirk have become the youngest players ever to reach No. 1 in the UK LTA Ladies’ Rankings and spent an hour learning from one of the very best in the world.
As part of an exhibition match on day two of The Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic, Lamperti was joined by fellow Argentinian, and former World No. 1 Hernan Auguste. Lamperti and Patacho played Auguste and Harris in a display of shot-making which had the crowds on their feet.
The Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic raised a significant amount for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, with funds generated including support for The Hurlingham Club Foundation’s girls' rackets project, Empower, which has seen local girls given the chance to play padel at The Hurlingham Club.
The partnership between TTB Sport and Laureus Sport for Good at the Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic reflects a shared commitment to harnessing the power of sport as a tool for social change. Last year, Laureus Sport for Good enabled more than 100,000 girls around the world to enjoy the benefits of sport and trained more than 4,000 female coaches to support them.
Laureus Academy Chairman Sean Fitzpatrick said: “This event has quickly become an integral and much-loved part of the Laureus calendar, and it’s also a great celebration of a sport that has captured the imagination of people of all ages and sporting backgrounds. That is reflected by this unique field, from elite padel athletes to a great comedian like Michael McIntyre.
“And like everything Laureus is involved in, there is a purpose that underpins the event. We’ve raised funds that will help Empower make a real difference in the community. Padel’s power is its accessibility, and we believe it can be a change-maker in the mission we share, to reverse the drop-out rate from sport for teenage girls.”
In addition to Vaughan and Vega's triumph, there was a hard-fought corporate challenge. Fairway Capital lifted the Alfred Dunhill Team Championship whilst Investec, with former England footballer Peter Crouch in their line-up, took the Plate competition.
Investec's Tom Bradshaw added: "Thank you to everyone at TTB Sport who created and operated the tournament. Participating in the Alfred Dunhill Padel Classic delivered an exceptional experience for Investec's clients. We are proud to support Laureus Sport for Good, a vital charity that uses the power of sport to help disadvantaged children around the globe.
"Winning the plate whilst playing alongside our clients and having the very talented Peter Crouch join us made this event especially memorable. It’s a fantastic opportunity to blend sport, community and philanthropy in a beautiful setting."
